Click on the picture above to see all the wonderful new Ashland Bay fibers available for sale in the Gritty Knits store. I am selling everything as inexpensively as I can afford to, so you'll find some really great bargains. Including merino top for $17.60/lb! As sick as you all must be of hearing about the state of the economy, I thought I could bring some cheap-wool-inspired cheer into the lives of the spinners who stumble upon my shop.

Click this one to see the new selection of hand dyed merino top. More to come shortly; I'm dying it so fast, I've run out of places to hang everything to dry! My whole house smells like wet wool, dye, and vinegar. Bad for my husband, good for you.

...he would totally droll over this doughnut of fiber I just received:

My Ashland Bay order came today! I just got done taking photographs of most of it for the store, and I *hope* to have them up for sale by Monday.

Here's the first batch of awesome batts from my most recent round of Ravelry swapping. Luckily I'll have these to spin while I'm waiting for my giant roving order to come in, because I spun myself out of merino today.

Most of the recently blogged-about yarns are up for sale in the store now. Check 'em out:

I want candy

cable-supercoil

Here's a candy striped cable-esque yarn that I am much more happy with. It's got the pizzazz the other one lacked. I want to eat it. Tomorrow I'm going to spin a companion skein to go with it, since this one only gave me about 7 yards.

News you can use: as soon as this year's tax refund arrives, I'm going to place a big roving order with Ashland Bay, so I'll have lots of high-quality, un-dyed spinning fibers in the store "soon", in addition to the batts & locks currently for sale. (I use the word "soon" loosely because I have no idea how long it will take the IRS to ship me my money, or A.B. to ship me my order.)

cabledyarn

This was my first attempt making a "cabled yarn", basically taking two 2-ply yarns and plying them together. I'm not very impressed with it, but I think that's mostly because I'm tired of working with this colorway. It's a bit on the stiff side; I think I may have gone overboard with the twist.

Swap skeins

skeins1-27-09

The left & middle skeins are fibers carded from a Ravelry fiber swap box. The one on the right is a swap-batt from Moustache Rides. (I made too many tame yarns last month, now I'm rebelling back to wacky art-yarns.)

I'm not feeling very chatty lately.
