Hooray! My little keyboard cat is famous! I don't think I "won" the contest because I haven't gotten any emails or anything, but my puppet was featured on today's episode of Attack of the Show. I was jumping for joy at the beginning because they had him sitting on the set with a bunch of the other entries, and then in the last few seconds, Kevin plays with him and sings the song. He appreciated the magnet-hands; I'm so glad I thought of doing that! (Really, I'm so glad I happened to walk down the magnet aisle in Hobby Lobby on the day I was shopping for puppet supplies.)

Here's a short clip of Kevin Pereira with my puppet:

And here's a longer video with more entries:

Wish me luck

keyboardcatpuppet

keyboard-cat I am currently knitting a keyboard cat hand puppet. My wrists are aching, but I have to hurry up and finish it in the next day or two so I can send it to Kevin Pereira for the Attack of the Show Keyboard Cat art contest on G4 (a nerdy video-game-centered cable channel). I don't particularly want to win any prizes, I'm mostly just hoping they'll show it on television. He's nothing but a headless blue shirt and a detached, eyeless, fuzzy head right now, but I'll post pictures before I send it. I jotted down the basic instructions too, so I might have a new pattern up on the site for the first time in years.

I went all out and knitted him a little piano. Here's the best part: he has magnets in his paws so that he's drawn to the keys on the keyboard. I know a hand puppet is kind of stretching an "art contest" entry, but with any luck, they'll like it anyway.

Speaking of kittens...

kitties

I've recently become obsessed with The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee. They're currently raising money to help homeless kitties at the Humane Society, so I thought I would pass the word along. Adorable operators are standing by to take your call! ...But they're not very good at working the telephone, so perhaps you should go to their website and click on "donate" instead.

Here's a sneak peek of some items that will be in the store soon:

sticker  newpurse

Item 1: "I (yarn) HANDSPUN" vinyl stickers are being printed as we speak and will be for sale as soon as they mailman brings them to me. I will probably give one away free with purchases, but you will also be able to purchase additional stickers for cheap

Item 2: A less cheapo version of the El Cheapo bags are in the works. Two coordinating fabrics, embellished with handspun yarn and maybe some beads. It will also have a liner fabric and no exposed seams.

Evil twins

spinsI got a huge bunch of fiber the other day and made a giganto-skein that I'm not sure what to do with. I made half of it striped, the other half was all mixed up, then I plied them together. I don't have a picture of the finished product yet because it's drying, but I will soon. It totals 16+ ounces.

In the spirit of gigantism I bought my dog a giant tennis ball, but it's way too big to fit in her mouth so she can't pick it up. She just holds it in front of her and tries to rip the yellow fur off.

Just a quick post to show you the new stuff that went up in the store today:

My fiber-of-the-month club turned out to be slightly more successful than I had anticipated! ...in that I had anticipated no one would sign up, but a few people did :) I just got done putting the packages together and they'll go in the mail first thing in the morning. Hooray for early delivery!

I only made one real bonehead mistake: I dyed exactly enough wool to send out to my club members, but I forgot to make extra for myself! It's my favorite colorway I've ever made, but it was really hard to get an accurate picture of it. It kept looking green or yellow, neither of which are really there.

Here's a sneak peek of some of this month's goodies:
